Walnut and Burl Writing Desk with Leather Slide
Early 18th C.
This exceptional and somewhat small writing desk is a beautiful example of the late Baroque phasing into the early 18th century. This desk has graceful lines with a straight “business side” housing three drawers over two doors, the doors and side panels all with thick band inlays of burl walnut, the opposite or “viewing side” of a late baroque curved and decorative form with a slightly bowed front, shaped apron, and paneled fronts. An exceptional piece of furniture with original hardware and locks. Enjoy.
