Of slender and rectangular form and constructed entirely of solid and veneered cherrywood this secretary cabinet comes from Lucca, Italy constructed in the Neoclassical period, having a Carrara marble top above a conforming case with paneled sides, one upper drawer above a fall front over two lower drawers, all drawers lined in solid fabric, the hinged and self supportive fall front opening to reveal a veneered writing surface and an interior with 5 drawers, one large and 4 smaller, the larger drawer above an open column lined arcade, the bottom 4 centering a column framed opening, this opening with a secret forward slide revealing a lower compartment, all hardware in brass, raised on square tapering legs.
