Folk Maiolica Landscape Pitcher
Early 19th C.
A hand thrown tin-glazed earthenware pitcher of baluster form with a flared, scalloped rim and a strap handle. The body is decorated with a naive, hand-painted pastoral landscape in a polychrome palette of green, yellow, turquoise, and manganese, depicting trees and distant structures in a rustic, impressionistic style typical of Southern Italian Folk workshops
