Covered entirely in 23.5 karat gold which has a slightly darker hue than 24 karat gold which appears slightly more red, this mirror incorporates elements of the French Regence period with its criss-crossed lozenge form design in the upper section centering elongated rosettes, with carved molded edges surrounding the original plate the top surmounted by a large shell and flanked by scrollwork.
