Pair of Oils on Canvas in Period Giltwood Frames, School of Madrid
Mid-19th C.
ON HOLD
A beautiful pair of landscape paintings. In one there are figures strolling along the palace of the Marquesa de la Gomera in the Sevillian town of Osuna, a few meters from the Cilla del Cabildo Colegial with a Roman Temple in the background. The matched pair portrays the outskirts of the town, possibly Sevilla. The cross monument in the foreground also illustrates Catholicism's importance in the day-to-day lives of civilians.
An inscription on the back of the palace painting says it was made for the Marquesa de la Gomera.
