Walnut, Poplar, and Fir Wood 4-Door Libreria

1st Quarter 18th C.

Constructed in the late Louis the 14th period transitioning into the rococo this cabinet features four doors with arched pediments and hand wired screens, the screens overlaid through the middles horizontally by curved supports, retaining their original brass hardware and original locks and keys. The construction is peculiar, in that it is for displaying objects, likely, valuable, porcelains, while not allowing damage to occur to them whether it be from handling or rodents. Imagine a collection of blue and white vases here.  The case is surmounted by three pediments with rococo scrolls and four turned finials. The center piece being a stemma from the family of origin covered in gold leaf. The case is raised on shaped bracket feet. Once exhibited at the Bienalle in Florence Italy.  And later purchased from a bank in Venezia, Italy.  Unbelievably, this piece retains its original construction and seemingly timeless patina with no visible repairs or refinishings.
