Remaining in its original giltwood and gilt-gesso frame this painting depicts an amorous lion joining his lioness mate in a mountain setting at dusk, signed lower right J. Capeyron, Capeyron from Nantes, France.  Painting has been surface cleaned, frame restored but largely original.
