Italian, Naples, Rococo Period
Carved Silver Gilt Mirror
Mid-18th C.
This mirror, finely carved by hand, and covered in silver leaf is largely of the “Grotto” style with an upper scalloped oval section surrounded by floral sprays, twisting vines, and rosettes, the interior interesting in that there is a, seemingly, original central mirrorplate surrounded by smaller mirrored sections and carved wood interior corners, with flared “feet” at lower section. One cracked mirrorplate.
