Large Walnut Credenza of Scantonata Form
ON HOLD
This credenza comes from the Villa Godi Malinverni. It was the first villa designed by Andrea Palladio, the villa is a UNESCO heritage site (if you go on the internet you will find it right away).
This credenza was made for the furnishings of the villa in the complex of a revisitation in 1770/80. It is constructed of walnut wood externally while the internal parts including bottom and back are of fir wood. Lugo di Vicenza, although it is a small town has as many as two villas of Palladio. As a result where there are noble and rich families (Piovene and Malinverni in this case) there are also excellent carpenters, because the rich, (especially of that time) were demanding and cultured. The sideboard therefore feels the influence definitely Vicentina, but feels the precise stylistic address of the time because the client was rich and cultured, the result is that the sideboard is most elegant.
