Purportedly created in South America to facilitate the transport of gold and silver to Spain this cedarwood chest has a slightly domed top above a rectangular case with interesting joints, the iron lock and hinge with a South American influence, the top with visible iron fasteners and numerous cut marks suggesting the chest was used as a dining or work bench/table.
