AUTUMN GOLD

November 17, 2016
“Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons.” – Jim Bishop

It’s been far too long since I have sent a Wanderlust e-blast!  I have been collecting designs and thoughts for months but as the kids say “the struggle is real” to pull it all together.  It has been non-stop around here since August 1st…buying trips, new shipment arrivals and gallery events have kept us on our toes.  However, the true hustle initiated with the Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Serenbe Showhouse.  The opportunity to partake was presented to us while we were on an extended buying trip in Europe in late June.  We bought several things with the sole intent of placing them for our imaginary dweller of the penthouse.  Typically, Shane and I cannot spend too much time agonizing over offbeat dimensions and more times than not its the unconventional pieces that sell first.  The whole experience was challenging but exciting and left us with a whole new appreciation for the work that goes into showhouse installations!  The recently published December issue of Atlanta Homes & LIfestyles features the loft in all of its decorated glory.  Shane and I are elated to see a suite of our own design style and in the company of exceptionally talented professionals in print!

In other news, we just received another shipment on Monday and its one that I cannot wait to share with you!  Doug and I have been taking our Robuck instagram up a notch with posts and will continue to do so with this new inventory.  As always send us a note if you are looking for anything in particular.  If you came in to the shop right now you would be sure to think you hit the mother-load.  We are full of of inventory again…large frames, interesting lighting, leather club chairs and many beautiful side tables, credenzas and, the tour de force, a pair of 18th century Italian Walnut and Inlaid commodes.

Each item’s image is linked directly to our website for more informative details including dimensions and detail photos.  The context images are also linked to their proper homes if you would like to find more information on any of the featured designers.  Please click, email or call us with questions if anything further is needed.  We would be more than happy to offer assistance with shipping both domestically and internationally.

Kindest Regards,
Kristen

Flemish Tapestry, “The End of Innocence”
ca. 1600

the tapestry’s origin dates back to the end of the 16th century to possibly the early 17th century, FLANDERS, probably created in the city of Enghien. The particular overall composition that brings together, in the style of the time, lush acanthus leaves or aristolochia called “feuilles de choux” (or cabbage leaves) inhabited by wild animals in the foreground, with a view of the landscape and a village in the background, in accordance with the era the border is composed of fruit, hares and birds. Note the wide variety of species of flora and fauna. The two wild dogs attacking a white, presumably female, horse perhaps acknowledging the theme of lost innocence. In good condition, some minor replacements. structurally sound. having hanging loops and Velcro strip on reverse.
